Happy Birthday Curley Bubba and Bubby

Hope your birthdays have been good. I can't believe that 24 years ago during the ice and snow that a little girl was born and who now is a grown woman and wife. And look 23 years later a little boy was born, who now has already learned to torment his big sister (hang in there Emma)
Love and kisses to each of you.

Love to all,

Aunt Sis ( Vickie) and Unk (Clinton)

Happy Birthday

Here's to the birthday girl and boy!

Hope your days are great! (Bubby's is going good so far. He is already taking his first nap....and has played with his powertools, sorted laundry, had oranges...all his favorite things!)

Hope your day is even better Lindsay..

Mary and Tal and Emma Grace

Guess I better go to the dollar store and find a necklace and maybe stop by wal mart for some liverloaf (that's her favorite).

With all her gray hair I thought she was at least in her mid 30s.

Happy Birthdays!!

Happy Birthday to Bubby and Lindsey! See, Bubby, Lindsey has made it 24 years in this family and she's perfectly sane. What? She's crazy like the rest of us. Huh. Who would've guessed?? ;o)

Seriously, I'm feeling fairly old today...but I'm wishing Lindsey a great birthday anyway!

Love ya!!!

M & M's

SHHHHHHHHH!! This is a secret!! Maw Maw wants us all to get packages of M & M's for PawPaw for Christmas. There is a package she finds at Wal-Mart or Freds that has about 10 small packages of M & M's and they only cost about $1.00. He says that that is just the right amount to eat. Knowing him if he has the bigger packages he will eat until the whole package is gone (I'm the same way). So let's surprise him will lots of M & M's.
Do you remember the Christmas that Aunt Carol asked for socks??? Boy did she get the socks, and it was so much fun.
So remember M & M's for PawPaw and watch out for the feathers.!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, Oh let me tell you a funny thing that happened yesterday. After the funeral services for Uncle Trunnie, I drove Maw and Paw's van with her and Paw went with Unk in our truck. I did not have my key for their van so Paw gave me his keys.
After the graveside services were over they decided to go on home. Paw went with Unk and Maw went with me. Well she decided that she needed some meat for soup. So I call Unk and let him know we are going by Brookshires in Malvern and would be there in a little while. We went to the store and I got the meat and something to drink and we were on our way.
We had almost gotten to the dump truck (there is a house that has a dump truck in the yard usually and Maw and Paw always say that when they see it that they are almost home), and Maw was telling me something when I gasped, and then started to giggle (not at what she was saying). She wanted to know what was wrong. I asked if they had a spare key to the house hidden somewhere, no they don't. Then I giggled again and jiggled the keys in the igination and said well they can't get in because I have PawPaw keys!!!!
Well we pull in and pass Unk's truck but did not see them. I parked the van and went up the back steps and could tell that the lights were out. about that time she yelled 'Come Here, Come Here and look" Yes you got it right there they were in Unk's truck fast asleep!!!!!! It took three horn honking to get them up!!!!!!!!!!! Boy the look on their face was priceless. Unk tried to honk his horn on the truck and could not find it. It was so funny.

Love to All,

Aunt Sis (Vickie)

Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday Emma Grace Ewing!!! Three years old, WOW!!!

That note has been there for 3 years now!!!
I hope your 3rd Birthday was a good one. Sorry this is late.
We love you and can't wait to see all of you Saturday.

And the envelope please!!!!!

Saturday after Mellen and her men (Grandaddy, Paw Paw and Uncle Max) got back from Mt. Ida, Paw Paw got their mail. After he opened a letter he gave us the results.
His PSA is down to 1.4? (can't remember the exact number, but do remember the 1.?) and his creitins(?) are within normal range!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Way to go PawPaw!!!!!!!!!!!! Let me tell you there was shouting going on in that house. People passing might of thought we were having an old time revival!!!!!!

Uncle Max and Aunt Charlie went home yesterday. Aunt Charlie has helped MawMaw put up her Christmas Trees, and boy are they pretty. MawMaw got Mellen's old big, big tree up in the living room with all the old ornaments on it. In her computer/sewing room she has a small tree up with nothing on it but red. Which by the way is MawMaw's favorite color. And she still wants to put one up in her bedroom.

Unk and I got the front porch lights up, and MawMaw said that Rhett want some on the back porch now. Maybe we won't overload the circuit this time. Well that's another story for another time.

May each of you have a good day today. We are still remembering Rick and Trish's families in our prayers as well as their friends.

God Bless you all,

Aunt Sis (Vickie)

Sorry, Salley but I just have to share this with everyone.

Yesterday out of the kindness of her heart Salley went shopping for the ingredients that I needed to make MawMaw's dressing for tomorrow.

I was still at work last night, long court day, and she called and said that she had gotten everything on my list but, the hen she had to get was small. OK, I can use a small hen, but she said it was very small. I asked if it was a cornish hen and she said no just a hen and that was all that wal-mart had. But her dad (Uncle Clinton) would go to Pine Bluff before work and see about getting a bigger hen.

When Unk got home he wanted to know if I had looked at the hen. He took me out to the freezer and hid the hen Salley got me behind his back. Guess what! It was a cornigh hen (for those who do not know it is a very, very small hen, more likely less than a pound).

I told him that would not make much dressing and someone would go hungry Thanksgiving!!!

So when you eat dressing tomorrow think of Salley.

Love you girl more than you can know.

Well that is our Thanksgiving story so for this year.

Hope to get to see you tomorrow.

Love to all,

Aunt Sis(Vickie) or Jamie as Rett calls me.

Who are you? This person who writes in pink/purple? Oh yeah, now I remember you. You are married to that guy that works for the county. Boy that should be a country song. Oh it was, but he was a lineman for the county. So good to hear from you, and yes we miss you too, and Reese too.

Believe it our not MawMaw and I are going to Ft. Smith this afternoon with the Hens. I asked her yesterday if she felt up to it and then I rephased it and asked if her body felt up to it. She said her body was going. So remember us. She and Paw have eye appointments this afternoon and we will leave after that.

Well I guess I had better go and finish packing and get to work so I can leave.

Everyone have a good weekend.

Comic relief

Okay, I vote that Aunt Sis is the official family recorder because she is so good at it and I am always splitting my sides after reading her witty comments. We always love hearing the news.

So PawPaw, I have a van that needs new break shoes on it, do you think I could do it? You'll have to teach me.

Emma and Elliot are ready to come back for a visit. We are excited that we will get to come for a day or two around Thanksgiving. It will be fun. And as always, a much needed break. Things are going good here but you don't realize how hard it is to take care of another human being until you do it. God has taught us all loads of lessons in patience, love, and grace.

I am going to try to get pictures up today! Stay tuned.....

PS>>>>Bubby can stand up now and is trying to walk. Emma, well, is Emma.

Tuesday, October 23, 2007

Hey!!! Wait!!! 54!!!!

Hey!!!! Wait !!!! 54 !!!! I don't think so!!!!!. O.K. I am a year older and a little slower so it took me a while to realize that I am only 53!!!! So just to set the record straight (because if I was 54 that means all of your are also a year older :) :)!!!

What does an 81 year old man, who uses a walker, do on a Monday morning??????
Why, he put new break shoes on the van!!!! Yes, that's right because yesterday I called MawMaw to tell her something and PawPaw was outside puttng new break shoes on the van.

What was she doing??? Getting ready for deer camp!!!! They will be moving the camper down to camp soon. So we will go this next week sometime and start loading the camper (like they have not already started). It is only about 2 more weeks to deer season.

Well I guess I had better go for now. We had a big court day today. We went from about 1:30 to almost 5. Most Tuesdays we are out by 3:30. I had to come home and make brownies for Jody my co-worker because tomorrow she will be another year older. I was talking to Norman Frisby after court and he had been to the office. He said he did not ask her age so I told him "She is younger than me but older than you." We all have a good time together and work well together. Well so long for now.

In God we trust,

Aunt Sis ( Vickie )

Birthday for Emma Grace and James Elliot

We will be having a birthday party for Emma Grace and James Elliot on Saturday, December 22nd. Everyone is welcome. I am still working the details out. But just wanted to give you all a heads up. Emma will be a three and Elliot will be one!!!

Happy belated birthday, Aunt Sis!

Sorry, I am starting to get all the dates down, but being one of the newer members of the family, I am still working on it! So happy belated birthday, hope that it was wonderful!

We miss all of y'all over there in Sheridan. It was hard to say goodbye to Grammy this weekend. We all wanted to jump in the car with her. We are really looking forward to Thanksgiving. (we should be there either Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday!) And then we are really excited about a long Christmas break. We will be there for five days!!!! YEAHHHHHH.

Well, I am off. I am in the middle of a 26 hour shift taking care of my grandfather. I am in the last six hours. It is a lot with both kids and him. So I need to go get my attention on them!

Congratulations PawPaw!!!
Hey everyone did you know that PawPaw graduated last Friday. He got a diploma !! He did not have to wear a cap and gown, or stand in a long line in the sun or rain as some of us did. But, Yes!! His last treatment number 42 is over. He goes back to Dr. Claybrook on November 27.

I asked MawMaw yesterday if they felt like they are on vacation. She said yes, and that they did not know what to do will all the time they now have. I told her to rest.

I want Rhett to know that I got balloons and flowers and some more gifts for my birthday. Unk is going to take me out to eat Saturday and I will have some cake and celebrate my birthday then.

Well I got to go for now, and get ready to walk. Saturday if the Race for the Cure in Little
Rock. I can now do 1.5 miles in about 39 minutes, so Saturday it should take me, oh let me see a long, long time to finish the 5K, but I will do it!!!

Love to all, and may the Lord Bless you,

Aunt Sis (Vickie)

Just thought I would be the first person to wish my Mom a HAPPY 54TH BIRTHDAY! I am very thankful to have a Mom like you! I LOVE YOU!

Friday, September 21, 2007

Thank you! (and more Grammy's vacation)

But I have to wasn't "soooo many, many years ago." Even if Rhett thinks it takes "a long time" to get to 34. ;o)

Here is a photo of Grammy, Meme and Granddaddy on the Old Faithful webcam. My mom is the one holding the big sign. I think it says, "Happy Birthday, Jamie." She also had one that said, "Hi! Emma and Elliot," but, unfortunately, the camera is too far away and you can't read either of them. But they are having too much fun! (And, yeah, Meme is sitting in a wheelchair...she hasn't hurt herself, she just can't walk so far any more...they're all doing fine).

8-22-07 8:10 pm

Mary, I printed off the last pictures from your blog and took them to Maw Maw and Paw Paw this morning. Let me tell you there was almost a fight to get to see who got to see them first!!!
Maw Maw was looking and Paw Paw was telling her to hurry up so he could see!! They really enjoyed them.

Paw and I went to Little Rock. Paw and Maw were going to Sheridan this afternoon. Hair day you know. No matter how bad the back hurts the hair has got to be done. Paw was going to drop off Maw and he was then headed to Wal-Mart to do the grocery shopping.

Maw is a little better, and I mean little! She does not have the use the walker. She still uses her stick some.

Salley faxed her resume yesterday from my office and before she could get home a Temp agency from NLR called. She went today and had an interview. They will get her resume out to several attorneys and then we will see.

Jamie thank you so much for helping her this last weekend.

Well I guess I had better go for now.

Love to all,

1st treatment and back

Took Paw Paw yesterday for his 1st treatment. He went back about 9:20 and was out at about 10:30. He was not tired, said he did not feel anything. They first had an x-ray taken. Then he had to lay on a table that had a hole or indention for his heels, he had a ring to hold on to and he could not move. He asked after a little bit if he could have something to put under one of his elbows because he has an ouchie on it and it was hurting. The nurse said not because you are through. It did not take long at all. Oh yeah, after the x-ray he had to drink a big glass of water. He will need to dring I think, 24 oz of water about 1 hour before his treatments. He will have his next treatments at 10 am from now on. Then we went to RED LOBSTER to eat.

Maw did not go with us. Wednesday night she went to stand up and could not straighten up because of pain in her hip. She was in one end of the house and Paw in the other. She finally made it to her chair. Paw wanted to call an ambulance but she would not hear of it. Paw was afaid that she had fractured her hip because she was in so much pain she could not even lift her arms. They finally got some paid med in her and it eased. Paw slept on the couch until Maw decided she wanted to go to the bed. She said that she slept good. I told Paw that next time it only takes 3 numbers. I told him to get the phone and go to the kitchen and make the call, that way she can't hit him. She may not go with us today. I told her she needs to stay home. Yeah Maw I've told on you, because I love you!!

Well I will try to keep you up to date on othe latest saga of Paw and Maw.

Love to All,

Aunt Sis(Vickie)

49 and 60

Yes my little brother turned 49 yesterday. When he turned 30 I cried off and on all day. But I don't want to see what next year will bring. Happy Birthday Brother!! Love Sis.

Now for the 60. It looks like we will need to have Maw and Paw's dinner or lunch, which ever it may be, on September 8th (which is also Bryce and Rhett's birthday party). Uncle Robert will not be off the first week end (which is labor day week end) but will be the next. So those of us who can need to plan to be there on the 8th. I will let you know more later on this week.

I am going with them Thursday since it will be a longer day. Mother got ready today to go to Ladies Aux. but could not make it. She started hurting and could not make it. They still insist that they can make this trips to Little Rock all right. She will go October 5 to start the shots again for her back.

Well I guess it is time to go for now. Got to go to work tomorrow.

Love to All,

Aunt Sis (Vickie)

My Interview

So as Mom mentioned this morning I had a Job interview in Malvern this morning with David Kizzia (Kazay). He told me that he liked me but at this time he cant offer me a job or anything but he is going to keep my resume on file and he might call me for a second interview when he gets ready to interview. He did give me some good advice though he told me to sell myself more. So Jamie I might be needing some lawyer help lol! I'm going to have to get with you so I can have someone that knows what a lawyer might ask question wise for some help. Well I'm gonna go gotta get ready for Revival! TTYL Love Sassey (Salley)

8-8-07 6:55 am
This is the latest on Paw Paw. He went yesterday and had a Kitty Cat Scan. They told him that his first treatment will be 8-16-07, which is next Thursday. The first treatment he will be there for about 1 1/2 hours. They will do x-rays and some other test. Then the next treatment will only last about 15 minutes.

Maw Maw goes this afternoon to see Dr. Covey for her back. Let's pray that he can help her soon. Paw said yesterday that he thought she might be a little better, but he was going in and tell the doctor something had got to be done.

We have been in revival at church. The preacher who was to preach got sick, so Bro. Click, our pastor, is preaching. We are having very good attendance.

Salley goes today for a job interview at Malvern with an attorney. He just graduated in May, but has been working in Little Rock with the Prosecuting Attorney's office.

Well got to go for now and get ready for work.

Love to all,

Aunt Sis (Vickie)

Memorial Day

Hello everyone:

So sorry that we did not get to see everyone today at Maw and Paw's for burgers.

Jamie, I hated that you had to work today. A holiday at that!!!

Mellen I hope you made it home all right. How is your neck and shoulder? I forgot to ask Maw today.

Mary, Tal, Gracie and Elliott, I hope the move went smooth for all of you and that you can find everything you need.

Lindsey, how was everything at Children's today. Hope nothing big happened. We missed you and Reece too. Reece how is your Grandmother doing? Has she got to come home yet?

This week will be busy getting ready for VBS June 4-8. Saturday I had Clinton cutting and gluing projects. Maw and Paw are getting in the act also. Maw had laced some pictured frames for me and I gave them a bunch of stuff to glue. I found out a long time ago that projects from OTC have to be prepared ahead of time or you do not have time for all those little hands to complete them.

Just wanted to let you all know that we missed you. To the ones we got to see we really enjoyed it.

Hope to see everyone next time.

Love to all,

Aunt Sis (Vickie)

Their're home!!

5-17-07 10:04 pm
Maw and Paw are home. She had to get her hair done this morning. A new perm will make any girl feel better.
She will not know anything from her ct until probably next week.
She had therapy tomorrow and Paw and Rhett get to hang out together. No hatches though.
To find out about the hatches check Beth's blog.

Love to All,
Aunt Sis (Vickie)

Where or Where could they be?

Beth and I just talked and we have no ideal where the two (Maw & Paw) from the trailer are. Beth said that Maw's face is not any better and she was to have a CT scan today at about 2. Hey, Beth did not know until this morning I think, I did not know until Beth called me this afternoon. We will try to locate them and find out what is going on.

My hand is not as bad as it sounds. I may have a compresses nerve from the fall I took. I will go to a Dr. Hudson at the "family clinic" (Ortho Arkansas). I did not want to be left out. It seems that nearly everyone else in the family has been there at one point in time. We seem to all see different doctors but we suppore them.

My friends Nancy and Mary wanted me to be sick today so I could go to Dr. Sam or to the Baptist with them in Texarkana. That's really Sam's Wholesale Club or the Baptist Book Store.
I'm kind of glad I did not go because they went and were on their way home are were in Arkadelphia when they realized that they forgot what they went for. They were to pick up some yard signs for VBS at the BBS and they FORGOT!!! They had just gotten back there at about 5:30 and the store closes at 6. Pray for them!!! I guess I can't let them go anywhere else without me. HA!

Hope to see all of you soon.

Love, Aunt Sis (Vickie)

Maw and Salley

Yeah, you painted a kind of gross mental image there...but, thankfully, Maw is getting treated. I'll pray the antibiotics work quickly.

Salley, you should make sure that if you get an ultrasound that indicates gall stones, it doesn't set you up for being denied for later surgery (under "pre-existing illness"). I know it wouldn't be fun to have surgery right now, but if you're having significant issues, it's better to do it now while you're under insurance. BUT I'm going to pray that they don't find any gallstones and this is just a moot point.

Glad you passed Torts!!!! I, personally, loved Torts...environmental law is kind of based in tort actions. For those of you who are scratching your heads, here's a not-so-friendly and short-sighted explanation of tort law. Basically, personal injury lawyers are tort lawyers. That makes torts sound negative but, even though that's the basic truth, torts are not something that should be viewed as negative. Torts are generally those injuries you can sue for that aren't covered by some legislation or regulation. (Or, like assault, battery and larceny, injuries you can get damages for after the loser gets out of jail). Now, family law....that's the subject I hated!!

And, finally, Jim Edmonds gets some hits!! Cards beat the Rockies, 4-1 (Tuesday night)!!!!! Our boys are struggling this year, so it's really nice to get a win!

Good news! MawMaw went to an ENT today and it is the gland in her mouth that is stopped up(that's the easy way to explain it). She is on 2 kinds of antiobotics and if that does not help the Doctor told her she would have to go in the hospital to have an IV antiobotic. Let's pray these 2 work. He did a lot of mashing on her jaw and cheek to see if he could break it loose but could not. I have had this to happen to me (but not as bad) and when it breaks loose you know it. Yuk!!!

Salley is going for an ultrasound for her galbladder to morrow. Her insurance runs out the last of this month so we are trying to get it checked before then. Pray that she does not have to have anything done right now.

She called a little while ago and she got her grades. SHE PASSED!!!!!!!!!! Yes she was a little worried about one class "Torts" but she passed!!

Way to go Salley!!!!

Got to go for now, Unk has supper ready and I am hungry.

Love To All,

Aunt Sis

Well it's Graduation week! I hope & Pray that our family has a accident free week of my Graduation! I think the devil was trying to work on us last week it was a stress ful week for me with Mom falling, Uncle Bob in the Hospital & Finals week. This week my agenda is work & getting ready for Graduation on Friday. Thanks to everyone who has supported me in my last 4 1/2 years of college! We were talking the other day that our family just likes college. It took Jamie & Lindsey a while to Graduate and Uncle Pat didn't go back til he was an adult. Well I hope everyone has a great week! Love you all! Sassey

And let me add a few to that long list....

Well, after getting the more than enough excitement for a few years phone call about Uncle Bob on Tuesday night, I was summoned to the phone on Friday night only to find out that my father was in a wreck that totaled his car. Apparently a young girl turned in front of my father and did not see him, causing him to swerve into a brick wall. He escaped with only a second degree burn to his left arm from the air bag, but his car was inhilated. We are just so thankful that he is okay. It could have been much, much worse.

Then on Saturday, my mother missed a step and fell out the door while moving things out of the house to storage. She sprained her ankle royally and is now in a brace and has orders to stay off of it until the swelling has totally subsided. Which it is a good thing that Friday was my last day at work for awhile, because I don't know what we would have done. She is having a hard time following the doctor's orders, but I am being a mean old nurse! (I only thought I was going to get a break. I have a second degree burn and a sprained ankle to nurse.)

And for the worst news of the day, or at least I think so, I go on Tuesday for my first ever root canal. YUCK. And my little brother is doing it. So please, please pray for me!!! I scrambled to find a baby sitter. Fortunately, a girl that was a few years younger than me is in town for her sister's graduation from high school and did not have plans yet. She was more than happy to come over and play with my kiddos!!!

So I have novel idea, why don't we try for not so much excitement next week. Really, who was praying for patience or trust or whatever??? Because I think your prayer effected the entire family.

Hope and pray that everyone's ailments are on the mend!

Mary, Tal, Emmy, and Bubby

Ps. Uncle Bob we are sooooo thankful it was just your gall bladder. We were sorry we could not be at the hospital with you, but we were praying!!

What a Week!!

What a week this has been. Last Sunday Aunt Carol, Salley, Mary Elizabeth (a friend of Carol's) and myself went to the Old Mill in North Little Rock, so Aunt Carol could take some pictures of Salley. Everything was find until we got there. We were going down some stone steps and grace fell down. Not it was not Salley (who was always falling when she was little) but me. Somehow I managed to hang onto the rail with my right hand, when my left ankle turned and I completely twisted and scraped my left leg down at least 2 steps. It was sore and now it is black and blue from my knew down to my ankle. It is better just looks ugggglllly!!

Then Uncle Robert decided he wanted a helicopter ride. Praise the Lord that it was galbladder and not his heart. I truly believe that with all the prayers that went up for him that the Lord blessed him with galbladder trouble. There were at least 50 - 75 people at the hospital Tuesday night asking the Lord the be with Robert. Another praise is that he was able to have it the New way and not the Old way that some of us have had. Let's see Maw Maw, Uncle Max, I think Aunt Leta, Myself, Jamie, Beth and now Robert are all missing a galbladder. Look out the rest of you. Salley is going Tuesday to talk to our doctor because I believe she has had some attacks. Bless Aunt Carol she got food poison Thursday before Uncle Robert went to surgery and she could not go down to the holding room with him. Friday she was better, but Thursday she was sick. Lindsey said that she had never known of her mother to throw up and Carol said that she had not in the last 30 years (by the way they will have their 30th anniversary in June)

Wednesday I went to the eye doctor, who I have never seen before because my regular doctor is only in 2 days a week and it would have been July and I need contacts now. The first thing that he wanted to do is get blood work done to see if my thyroid is ok, and then a CT Scan on my eyesockets to make sure there is no damage from my thyroid. It is because of my BIG eyes. I told him that every doctor that first sees me wants a thyroid test and that they have always some back better than good. But there is gorders(?) in the Salley Family. Thursday I went for those test. Friday the doctor called and said that everything was normal (I could have told him that). Praise the Lord.

Monday MawMaw's left side of her face started hurting. By Tuesday night at the hospital with Robert, it had started to swell and I mean swell. It was hurting worse. Wednesday she went to Dr. Swilling her dentist and it may be her wisdom tooth so she will go to an oral surgeon May 15 if she can last that long. It has started hurting so much she can only eat soft food and as long as she is on a paid killer it is better. She told me yesterday that she could see her cheek it was so swelled. Take a look, can you look down and see yours? She is either going to her doctor, call Dr. Swilling or I told her to go to the emergency with it tomorrow. She can wait until May 15 another week away. So she needs our prayers. Also PawPaw needs our prayers.

Let's pray that this will will be calm for all of us.

Sorry this is so long.

Love to All, Aunt Sis.

That sounds great, but....

I will be out of town this weekend. I will in be in Eureka Springs for a law conference until Sunday. :o(

I was bummed when I heard you all would be in town this weekend. I definitely wanted to see you all and, believe it or not, help make up for all of those moving days that I owe to Tal.

Pray for my travel (and for my co-workers) over the weekend, as it may be raining. We're all going up on Thursday and will be coming back at various times during the weekend. I'm taking on a leadership role in this environmetnal law group, so I'm staying through the whole conference.

Subject for your blog

Jamie you can write about how you babysit your neice and nephew all weekend so your poor brother and sister-in-law can move everything out of their house!!!! We have renters. YEAH.

We will be there on Saturday and hopefully have it packed up on Sunday. So anyone who wants to come over Saturday, please come one come all. We will be there by 9am.

And, if you have boxes and cannot make, drop them off at Grammy's house by Friday. We need lots I think!

But there will be two adorable kiddos to play with all day Saturday if you would like to play!! And plenty of boxes to pack up!

Bloggers Abound!

Teehee...I'm letting loose the secret of Beth's new blog. Okay, actually, I saw the link on Mary's blog. But I'm the first to comment on it on this site...again, Mary and Salley both beat me on Beth's site. Was that confusing? If not, I'm not trying hard enough...I am a lawyer, after all.

Anyway, check out Congratulations!! I'm looking forward to "seeing" ya'll more often.

I tried to start a blog but I didn't let anyone know because, as I predicted, it was pretty durn boring. I, unfortunately, am not one of those single girls with lots of exciting stories to share. Here's my day: Drag self out of bed; fight traffic; go to work; come home to a Cardinals game on the radio; go to bed. Yep, that plays itself out in about two days.... ;o)

But I'll try to be better about putting the exciting things up on this blog. I hope you are all doing well!

Congrats on the graduation, Salley!!

Just wanted to make sure that you are all praying for Ethan....

I am helping with his campaign for bone marrow drives. I am fielding between 100-300 emails daily, so I have not had much spare time lately to post. Please pass on the info to anyone you know. and anyone can email me at and I can answer any questions...

also, for all military and department of defense people, if you want to host a mini-drive within your office or area or even just for people you know, the DOD will send you a kit as long as you commit to getting 10 samples. It is only a mouth swab, no blood!! here is a link

Prayer Requested

I have two big prayer requests:

1) Traveling grace tomorrow. We are coming in two separate cars tomorrow, so that we can leave one car to be fixed. Also, so we can bring stuff back with us. I am a little nervous because it is a long way with a little tyke. Emma will do fine with her Tigger movie on board, but Elliot may not be as easy. So pray for safety and grace.

2) Our house...we have had a few bites and nibbles. We think we may have one potentially going for the hook all together! But we will see. And if that falls through we have at least one person interested in renting maybe two. So pray, pray pray!

Crazy Week

Hello Family,
Just wanted to stop by and let you guys in on my life. This week is the Life Of Christ Drama @ Lost Creek. I'm Tired!!! I was at Church ALL day today so I am pooped! Mary I am excited that you guys are gonna be at Church with us on Sunday!! You guys will get to hear me sing. PLEASE pray for me this week I am having some difficulties with my Co-Director who happends to be my best friend. So please say an extra prayer for me! Well I need to get off here I really need a shower cuz I stink (right mom? LOL) plus I need to do some school work. Well hope everyone has a good week our performances are Thursday Night @ 7pm and Friday Night @ 7pm & 8pm if anyone wants to come. See you all at Maw Maw's for our Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday!
Love you all!

This weekend

Well, hi to all! Sorry things have been so quiet on our end. We have been extra busy. For those who don't know, I am getting to quit my job in five weeks!!!!! I will be taking care of my grandfather starting in June. I am so excited. This will not only give me the pleasure of taking care of him everyday, but I will also be a full time mommy too!!! I cannot believe this all worked out. So my parents have purchased a house large enough for all of us and we are moving Memorial Day weekend. We have soooo much work to do to move. We have only lived in our current location for ten years, but we a lot of stuff from my parents' house and our house and my grandfather's house. It is crazy. Plus, two kiddos. So we covet all of your prayers...

Now to this weekend. We are finally coming. I was looking at the kids yesterday and felt so bad because they have both doubled in size since we were there last. I wish you got to see them more. But now with me not working, it will be a lot easier to pick up and come see everyone more often!

We will be leaving first thing on Friday. We are planning on bringing two cars so we can bring a load home and we need to leave Tal's truck to get worked on there in Sheridan. (The repair prices in Memphis seem to be more than double what they are in Sheridan.) Hopefully, if we leave early enough both kids will sack out in the car. But we will have the trusty DVD player for Emma and Tigger will be her constant companion. Elliot on the other hand, we will just pray he makes it through. He rather detests long car rides. Thankfully, we can stay until Monday, so we won't be back in the car too soon.

We plan on working at the house a little on Friday. I want to get a bit packed up. Then Saturday we have MeMe's Fish Fry. I know that we are planning on going to church with MawMaw, since we have been terribly neglective of letting her show off Emma and Elliot. Other than that I have no clue what our definite plans are. We definitely plan on seeing as much of our dear family as possible. We will be camped out at Grammy's except for during the day on Friday. And then we may have to run by the house in Benton on Monday to pack up our stuff.

So we hope to see you all! We love and miss everyone.

Mary, Tal, Emmy and Elliot

Internet at HOME!!

WOHOO! I'm now connected at home (come on Reese, you and Lindsey can't be left out now ;)).

Anyway, I should be heading to bed. This little state lawyer has a preliminary hearing tomorrow afternoon. Okay, I'll confess to you that is not as "important" as it sounds. It's just scheduling conference call that lasts about 20 minutes. But, it is the first step in the first case that I will handle as lead counsel. Luckily, I'll have help both from another attorney in my office and an old friend that I worked with at the Municipal League, who is representing another party on our side. So, I shouldn't be able to screw up, even if I tried. ;o)

Yep, should be headed to bed, but I'm wired and playing on the internet. Probably too much caffiene while trying to get everything set up. So, I better go read something terribly boring and get some zzzz's.

Happy, Happy Birthday to Mary

Hey Everyone!

Hi Everyone!

I've missed everyone so much! It's hard for me to check the blog because of my crazy schedule now-a-days, but maybe you can all help me talk Reece into letting us get a computer of our own...:) I hope everyone is doing well...My goodness Mary the kids have grown since we've last seen them...I hope yours and Tal's jobs are going well...I know that going back to work and even starting a new position can be very frightening and stressful. The pictures by the way are ADORABLE!
Hang in there Salley...You sound as if you don't even have time to breathe...But I will say prayers for you...It won't be long until you have a job and are bored to death! :)
Well I dont know if you all know it but my mom's mom, Granny Lucy, will be having surgery on March 26th on her back...she'll stay overnight in the hospital and should come home the next day, but she wont be able to lift ANYTHING over 5 lbs. for 6 weeks...and that'll be stressful for her and Papaw both... so please keep her and all of us in your prayers.
Well I've gotta get back to work...Love and miss you all!

Fun at our house

Prayers are needed

Hey,I have an adorable little patient that is just a few days older than Elliot. Ethan is in a fight for his life and needs your prayers. His parents have set a up a website for him, so that you can be updated daily about his needsand have asked us to help get out the word. God has been so faithful to this little boy. He had a very slim chance at survival from day one and has thus far proven the earthly predictions wrong. It is amazing to see how God is using his story to reach people all over the area and even farther. Pass this along, and please put him on your prayer list. And his parents, Ben and Becky, too, they are a sweet couple with a lot to handle at this

Wish We Could

We wish we could come and help wash the "Big House". We have a deacons ordination this afternoon at 2 at church. I don't think it would look too good if we came in all wet.
Unk and Jimmy Wimberly have gone fishing since Thursday. They are to be in sometime this morning. I kept reminding him he has to be back this afternoon. He said that they have caught the fish.
Paw Paw and I took Maw Maw Thursday for the 1st of her shots in her back. She will not have to go back till April 19th for the 2nd shot. Pray that these work.
Uncle Bob took Paw Paw for his checkup at the VA yesterday. Paw Paw has to go Monday and have an iron treatment. Maw Maw says that she may be able to go with him, if not I will go.
It takes about 3 hours to get this treatment.
Their lives seem to revolve around Doctors appointments.
My friend Mary Thomason and I went to Texas last week for a VBS seminar. It was really a good one. We are going to try and get others to go with us next year.
Well I have to get up from here and get ready to go to church to help set up for this afteroon.

Love to All,
Aunt Sis

Trailer Washing

As most of you know, I have a large RV that I am wanting to sell. So tomorrow afternoon, I am having a trailer washing at my house. If anyone would like to help, it would be greatly appreciated. If I can get it spruced up a little, Granddaddy will move it down to Gibb's grocery for me for better viewing. Come on over about 1:00 or 1:30 and have some fun. LOL Aunt Mellen

Yes, we are still here

Sorry for no updates in a week....the weather has been so nice that we are spending a lot of time out of doors! YEAH for that. Emma is having a blast at the park. She plays with all the other kids like they were her siblings. She jumps right in like she has never met a stranger. Which is so funny, since she is so shy around adults. She doesn't need us to take her down the slide anymore, she does it herself! And you should see her cheering for the other little boys and girls when they do something. She starts clapping and saying, Yeah!!!! You did it. So adorable.

Elliot is getting bigger by the day. He smiles and talks all the time. I will try to get a video of it on the web soon. Maybe this weekend. He can almost hold his head up all the time now. He is a great baby, taking good naps and playing with his jungle gym. He definitely prefers to be involved with you. He doesn't really like to be by himself.

Tal is doing great at work. He is working so hard. He has six appointments next week. (which to me sounds great, but his goal is ten everywekk, so he has a few more to make the goal!) I am so proud of him. He made the Memphis news paper. I am going to have to scan it in for you all to see.

We are still planning on trying to come the end of the month. We will probably be in Benton most of the 30th, and then Sheridan that night and the Saturday and Sunday. So hopefully we can see everyone. Then in April or early May if nothing has happened on our house yet, we will be coming over for a long weekend to pack up the rest of the house and try to get it moved back sometime. So get your baby holding arms ready!!

Well, probably better go eat lunch, so I can make it through the night at work tonight.

Tal and Mary were married 3 years ago yesterday.

May the Lord Bless you with many, many more years together.

Clinton's coworkers home was not damaged over the weekend. He did not make it to work yesterday but was there today. Please pray for Dumas. Did you know that the ABA has a disaster team. There are three states, Arkansas, Texas and Florida. They have been dispatched. You can go to the Texarkana website and find out more. I did not know we had anything like it.
They were saying that they hoped to get the electricity back on today or tomorrow for the Dumas residents.
Nothing else new here.
Grammy that sure was a big grin on your face holding those Grandchildren!!!! I sure could tell who was having the most fun!!!
Enjoy the pictures Mary and Tal of Emma and Elliot. They sure have grown since Christmas.
Hope to get to see you when you come to Arkansas.
Hey, if any of the family are here Thursday April 5th or Friday April 6th come out to Lost Creek and see our Life of Christ Drama. This is about our 10th or 11th year of doing this. It is outside at night, so please pray of good weather. In all the years that we have done this we have only had one night rained out.

God Bless Each of Everyone Of You

Aunt Sis

Monday, February 26, 2007

Hello to all....

I cannot believe February is almost gone. It seems like just yesterday when it was the end of January.

This weekend was extremely full for us. We were fortunate enough to have Grammy with us all weekend. Emma had a blast going and visiting her "new house" the hotel. And we even coaxed her to finally really swim, instead of just wanting to stick her feet in and watch mom and dad swim. It took almost an hour, but she finally seemed to enjoy herself. I just wish we had let her swim around in the hot tub (which was not really all that hot, I made sure she did not cook herself).

Then Sunday we took my grandfather, Big Daddy, to see him house for one last time. It was hard to see him say goodbye to the home he and my grandmother had lived in since before I was born. And it has been an adventure for my mom, aunt, and uncle trying to figure out what to do with all the things!

Okay, Tal is now licensed in Arkansas! So we need to get him appointment book full! I am so proud of him. He has been working so hard to get clients. He has his first "real" appointment tomorrow. YEAH for Tal and has a few more set for the coming weeks. The more he sells the quicker I can stay home with my kiddos. We are looking to come down for the last weekend of March/ first weekend of April, but if you get anyone that wants to meet sooner, let us know!

Also, we have had a few bites on our house...there maybe, just maybe someone slightly interested in it. That is more than we have had, so we are thrilled. We are looking for a weekend that we can come and do a lot of packing. If it works out, we will probably come that last weekend of March and do a good day or two of just packing. So if you know of anyone who wants to babysit or pack, bring them on! We will pass on the details soon.

Hope to see you all soon. More pictures to follow.

Grammy's Visit

I had an great time visiting Tal, Mary, Emmy and Elliot this week-end. We played, napped, ate, and changed diapers. Oh, yes, Tal, Mary, and Emma went swimming. It took Emma a little while to get use to the water but she loved it, especially the hot tub. She liked visiting Grammy's new house or the motel. You can see by the grin on my face that I think that being a grandmother is one of the best jobs in the world. Love to all, Grammy (Mellen)

We were blessed yesterday with no damage of any kind. Please remember the city of Dumas.
Clinton has a co-worker who lives in Dumas. As of now we do not know if he has had any damage or injury. Clinton will find out tomorrow at work. So far we have not heard of any deaths because of the damage just some injuries.
MawMaw got a good report on her legs. No problems with circulation.
Hey we will be having a Salley Family Reunion meeting March 3,2007 at 11:30 am at Kay and Ed's Restaurant in Benton. So if anyone can come and help plan our reunion, which will be the last Sunday in June, we would sure appreciate it.
I've got to go for now, time to get ready for church. Today is hat day so I have to go pick out a hat.
Love to All

Two Months Today

Oh, yes, and Happy Two months to Elliot!

Happy Birthday, Unc!

Sending you birthday wishes, probably through Aunt Sis! Wish we were there to share your cake! But for now, internet wishes are yours! Happy Birthday!

And to everyone else, we too enjoy reading your update immensely! It is great.

Lindsey, my friend, Casey, worked with me today. She said she enjoyed working with you. I am just envious that you probably will get to see her more than I do. I enjoy everyday I get to work with her.

I can grant you that those grandparents would love to get to see those grandbabies.

MawMaw got a good report on her legs yesterday. No blockages!!! All I could say was "Thank You Lord!!" Prayers were answered. He is so good to us a lot of times we do not realize it.

Jamie, I know you will do very good today and tomorrow. You won't be nervous long, you will jump in and everything will click and you will have the job done. Because you are prepared and you know what you are doing. I have confidence in you.

Mary, I read your blog yesterday but would not tell MawMaw what Emma had said. I wanted her to get the joy of reading it herself. We sure do enjoy reading about everyone.

Well I have to get up and get ready for work now. I'm just a lowly county employee, but I did get yesterday off. So now I have to go listen to the phone ring because we were closed last Friday also, we had to go to a meeting, and since this is court day we will have to listen to all those people who just can't get to court this afternoon. Some of their excuses are very funny.

God Bless to All,

Aunt Sis (Vickie)

I know my dad prolly won't read this but I wanna wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! If you wanna know how old he is subtract 4 from 60 and you have his age! Well I hope everyone is doing good I LOVE reading about everyone on the blog! Well I better get off here I have to start getting ready to go to school! Have a good day everyone!

No Holiday for Me :o(

This state employee has to work today...or I'd pack up those grandparents and bring them to see Emmy!

It is a state holiday, but the AR legislature is in session, and we have to have a skeleton crew available at their whim. Also, I have depositions on Tuesday and first ones ever at ADEQ! I'm incredibly nervous, of course, and it doesn't help that this isn't even my case...I'm just sitting in for another attorney. Anyway, I had already planned to be preparing all day today, so I volunteered for the holiday. I'll get to take it later in the year...I'm already picking out the Cardinals game that I want to go see. ;o)

Yeah to Elliot (and his mom and dad) for sleeping through the night! May you have many more to come!!

And belated Happy Birthdays to Beth and Uncle Clinton!!

Elliot's first big milestone

YEAH!!!! Elliot officially slept almost all night. He went for almost six hours without waking up. I wasn't sure what to do with myself. Previously we had only been occasionally getting almost four. It was great!

Another week has begun. Tal and I both have to work today dispite the holiday. (I have decided being a state or federal employee might have it benefits ;-) But I get Wednesday and Thursday off with the kids, so I will be enjoying those days of play with them. We have quite a full week though because my Uncle is coming up from Texas to help get my grandfather's house ready to close on in March. And so my mom will be gone with that for a large part of the week. We have the pleasure of having Grammy come play with the kids on Friday, and Emmy already is counting the days.

Oh yes, and I would be amiss if I did not say that last night, Emmy stated that she "I NEED my PawPaw and MawMaw to come see me." We assured her that as soon as we could plan it, we would go visit them. So you are missed!

More to come, have a great Monday!

I took a very long nap this afternoon and because of it, I cannot sleep tonight. It took until midnight to get Elliot to sleep tonight anyway because he was wide awake. Usually, he goes to bed really early, but not tonight. We hit a big milestone with him today, the first official poop through the diaper, through the clothes and get on mommy. It was crazy. Emma was trying to help clean up and she just kept saying, "Oh, wow. Oh, my gosh" I was so tickled and poor Tal was running around trying to find more wipes, a trash bag for not only the diaper, but we had to throw away the onsies it was so messed up. So needless to say it was off to the tub for our little one. After his bath, he promptly fell asleep. It was great! But then he was up for a long time after that. Hopefully he is asleep for the night seeing that it is almost 1am.

The weekend has been nice. Tal and I attended an awards banquet for his new job on Friday night. Then Saturday morning Emma and I went with my parents to look at houses. (We are wanting to bring my grandfather home from the nursing home because he hates it there. So we went on a hunt for a house.) Emma had a blast exploring all the houses. She was so cute telling us all about it. In one house, she disappeared into an empty room. Actually, no one knew where she was for a second. We were calling her name. I found her in an empty room standing in front of a large abstract painting. When she saw me she said, "Mommy, we need to talk about it." I just laughed. She is so funny sometimes. We found a few houses that would potentially work to take care of Big Daddy. But in all our adventures, the biggest part of the day was when we accidentally locked a cat in an attic. We could not find that cat or coax it out, so we left a note for the owners. I sure hope they find that cat...

I could make a hobby of looking at houses. It is so funny what some people do with their decorations. This one lady made her house to look as if you were on safaree in Africia, except for the master bedroom which had faux bricks painted on the wall with Greecian urns painted in faux alcoves. It was bizarre. The worse flooring of the day was the purple/pink tile we found in a house. It was so ugly and did not match the wallpaper at all. We figure he was a basement bargain shopper and that was what he found for the cheapest price.

Well, enough of my ramblings. I probably need to try to get a little sleep before the morning arrives.

God bless and enjoy a day to love our God and all He has made!

Ps. Emma turned 26 months today!

Hug your kids

Tonight I am writing at 2am, having just got home from work. It was such a hard day for me. I had full range of emotions. I was mad because a patient's mom lied about something that had occurred and another nurse who knows me and my reputation for being brutally honest took up for the mother. Then I was happy because a patient that I adore got off treatment and came up just to see me. Then finally I was devastated because as we were getting ready to discharge our final patient for the night, he went bad on us and as I was leaving two hours late for the night around 1:45am my last glimpse was an almost lifeless little one lying limp in his mother's arms fighting for every shallow breath. My heart broke for the poor mom and dad. It must be the most painful thing in the whole world to watch your child die in your arms. When is it ever right to say good bye, how to do you know when it is time to let go? So I guess as I left, I quit grumbling about how bad I have it, and just was thankful that I had just another day to hold my little ones. I, at least for tonight because I am thick headed, will not take them forgranted.

Sorry for the serious note, but I needed to get that off my chest so that maybe I can sleep a few hours tonight.

Dead Fish & Peanut Butter

Well you might be wondering about the title. Well as you read in Mom's post that Aunt Carol's fish was found dead. Well Mom said that Aunt Carol had a bag of dead fish to take back to Wal-Mart & Mom has Peanut Butter to take back. Dad heard tonight on tv that there was some Peanut Butter that had E-Coli in it and we happened to have 3 jars of it. Well I hope everyone is doing good! Love yall! ~Salley aka Sassey~

Birthday Wishes

Beth is, well you guess, years old today. Maw Maw and I had just got back from Little Rock and Paw Paw said that they were having cake and ice cream at Bob and Carol's for Beth's birthday.
Mind you we got in around 6:20. He said we were late because Carol said that they would eat around 6. We went over there and guess what! No one was at home. They had gone to Dorey's Catfish to eat to celebrate Beth's and Reece's birthdays. I called Beth and they were on their way. We had a good time, but watch out for the fish tank Beth and Lindsey!!! It seems that Carol's fish was missing in the fish tank, so Lindsey was going to find it, it had to be hiding. She found it alright. The poor thing started floating up from under something. Lindsey screamed and ran and Beth screamed. It's a birthday that Beth will not forget for a long time.

Happy Birthday Beth!!!

Love to all,
Aunt Sis

More Frogs...

The extra set of frog pajamas have arrived. Maybe now the others can get some rest. Grammy's week has been very busy. Last night, I went out to eat with Jamie and two of her friends from work for Valentine's day. When I got home, I had a very sweet card from Emma and Elliot. I have enjoyed showing off the new pictures to everyone at work. I am looking forward to the three-day weekend. I am going on my first trip by myself with the little camper. I have to take it back to NW Arkansas to be checked for a leak. Pray for a safe trip. Love to all from Mellen.
